Local Flexibility Market: first forward auctions of the MindFlex project – initially demanded volumes by UNARETI awarded and exceeded

The first two forward auctions of the Local Flexibility Market took placeon 20 and 21 May 2024. The auctions were held as part of the Mindflex pilot project, approved by ARERA, which involves Unareti spa (UNARETI) asDistribution Service Operator (DSO), and GME spa, as energy market operator.

In the two auctions, in which UNARETI demanded flexibility resources for the June-August 2024 period, the following volumes were procured: 5,07 MW for the standard product and 4,02 MW for the emergency product, completely covering and exceeding the initial demand of UNARETI for the standard product by 0,07 MW, and the initial demand of UNARETI for the emergency product by 0,02 MW.

The auctions were attended by two Balance Service Providers (BSPs) of the portion of the Milan electricity distribution grid that is operated by UNARETI. The BSPs offered their availability to make flexibility resources available to the DSO, thus actively contributing to the energy transition process.
